Exclusive Interview with Hiten

Buzz Punjabi recently caught up with Hiten to talk about his influences, background and latest and upcoming projects. Check it out below!

For those of our readers who don't know you, please introduce yourself.

I'm a boy from middle class family doing "what he loves." Used to be "DJ Hiten" but for some reason I removed "Dj" from my stage name but the Urls and Username are the same.  


You're an amazing producer and a soulful singer well known for your amazing covers of songs like "Zindagi" by Akhil, "Taara" by Mehtab Virk and "Din Izhaar Da" by Raashi Sood. Tell us something about your influences in music. Do you have any idols?

First of all thank you for such kind words. Prabh Gill and The Prophec are my idol .  


How important is it to "reach out" for newer artists and producers?

It's really difficult because of the current situation. Because there is less of talent and much more that "BRAND NAME". But still if you have talent people will appreciate you. Just keep on doing your stuff. Your goal will be reached someday.


In what ways do you believe technology has negatively impacted music and music production?

FAKE VIEWS (PS: will be trying someday to know how it works lol) 


What kind of music do you enjoy listening to? Who's on your playlist?

Trap, house, dubstep and trap (future), trap(chill) and trap again :P


How would you describe yourself using only one word?

HITEN

Tell us something unique about yourself that we already don't know.

Happy from outside but lots of sadness inside (ashiq hun bc ashiq).

If you had the chance to collaborate with any one artist in the world, who would it be? 

Alessia Cara (she's my crush <3)


Tell us something about your collaboration with Raashi Sood. What was it like working her and how did this project come about?

First of all what a vocalist. I have used them without autotune sometimes (backing humming voice in Lag Ja Gale cover). She's a very down to earth girl. 

Actually its a long story I made a song with Dubs Billa paji name "Karwachauth." Raashi loved the song and appreciated it, as my friend sent her the song on snapchat.
I posted the screenshot of the chat. My friend commented that "would love to see you collaborate." She replied in positive and the song went good. People really appreciated the song. 

Piracy is on the rise, making it hard for labels and artists to make a return on their investments. What role do you think we all play in this situation?

To be honest I used to download stuff but now I stream them only sites like Soundcloud, Youtube etc. I know what it costs for an artist. We as a listener can do two things:

1. Buy

 
or

2. Stream on youtube and click those ads :)
